RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A motion filed in U.S. District Court today suggests that all but 1 of the 49 remaining pit bulls seized from a home owned by NFL star Michael Vick at the outset of a dogfighting investigation has placement potential.
The motion says 1 of the pit bulls has a history of biting people and being aggressive. It recommends that dog be euthanized. It says the rest could go anywhere from foster care as a first step towards adoption to extensive treatment for antisocial behavior. Some even could be candidates for training for law enforcement work. [This references LawDogsUSA]
The findings in the motion are based on the recommendations of dog behavior experts that examined the dogs and how they behave in the company of people and other animals.
The experts were assembled by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The motion now goes before U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson.
