He may not be the "wurst" at his job, but a German police dog purchased by Momence police just four months ago doesn't seem to be cutting the mustard.
That's the opinion of police who have realized that not only is the newly acquired dog untrainable, he's a bit of a "wimp," said Ald. Bill Peterson, head of the Police Committee.
Consequently, the canine will be heading back to his native country. Peterson said a new dog is expected around the middle of the month.
Momence won't have to pay for another dog and will get "a little bit of a break" on the training, he said. The city had spent $9,500 for the police dog and training. The previous dog was sold to Grant Park for $7,500.
